The job market must be really bad to have to work in that house, so that they can then say that unions and workers' rights laws are useless. The script and the performances make this series, unintentionally, one of the best comedies of the year. The characters are so basic that they have to resort to illogical decision making in order to surprise you, they are totally flat, without nuances, the good ones are more stupid than good and the bad ones seem like beings from hell, this makes you not care what happens to them, you can't empathize with them. Anyway, I think I'm spending more time writing this review than it took to write the script. One and no more Netflix.
I don't usually watch Thai dramas, but I saw a preview scene on Netflix and I thought "how interesting". THE MAIN PROBLEM I had with this drama was the slowness of everything, not of the action in itself, but of the movement of everything. I had to watch this in 1.5× speed so I wouldn't die of boredom 'cause the pace doesn't do justice to the kinda nice plotline! It's not a work of a genius, but I think it would have worked better as a movie. There aren't a lot of important things that are happening and this drama focuses more on the mystery and the atmosphere. Most of the acting was good and the storyline of the protagonist truly kept me interested, the actress embodied the character very well. But sometimes I couldn't feel the reality of the plot, so I found it chaotic at times. Also, the music fitted the narrative plot, yet I couldn't stand the eerie and suspensful sound that was all over the episodes. I think they used it too much. I fell in love with the ending song of the finale episode. Give it a try if you want, but don't expect much.
Again, this seven episode series can be summed up into one movie. Less time-frame, less unnecessary scenes. The opening scene opens you to a world of an elite family owning a jewelry empire disowning their newly added family member which is their young personal maid turned into their mother. I got no complains with the cinematography and editing but I cannot take the plot seriously. The plot is messy and weak that you cannot even sympathize with the characters. Too much unnecessary details were added instead of choosing scenes that can help build-up the main reveal. The last 30 minutes of the series were supposed to be satisfying but sadly it has a lackluster factor. The villains were oozing with charisma which the main female lead lacks. I hope that in the future she can redeem herself in the industry. You can try watching this but I recommend watching 'Burn the House Down' more. Keywords: power-tripping, sexual assault, violence.
Felt like two different shows almost. The beginning half and the second half were a bit disconnected. The second half especially the last two episodes were confusing. It was using a weird storytelling technique where it was just having the viewer guess at stuff instead of actually explain anything. I liked the initial premise and acting, although the English dub was a bit odd because the voices sounded disembodied. If you want a quick watch where the story wraps up in one season, enjoy mysteries and stories where about eating the rich than this is definitely a good option. Could've been more stars if they had explained more and not rushed the end.
The art direction and all the shots were done extremely well. What I felt that were lacking is the writing. I think that is why most people don't find the ending satisfying. Just for the sake of the argument, the money is good that's why all of the servant stayed. It's sketchy from the get go, they all stuck around, stayed despite the abused. What is the drive behind the overthrown of the richest family other than they have more money and was cruel. If the main character was that girl who has to have sex with Marvin and got her revenge that would have been more entertaining and satisfying to watch. She would have been much better protagonist. But despite all this not the actors faults they all did a really amazing job.
Wow that was soooo slow. The acting was terrible and the script was just awful. It felt so forced and fake. Each interaction felt like a real bad translation. The words kinda match their mouth, but then kinda didn't. There was no character development, and I don't really watch for that, but this was blatantly terrible that you could feel it. The twist at the end was not really even a twist. I have two stars because it could have been decently bad versus just terrible. If there's absolutely nothing else to watch on Netflix it would better for you to take a walk outside or just go to sleep. If you need help sleeping this will do the trick.
A tale of a perverted family, insulated by wealth and privilege. Every single family member is sinister & exploits the servants that live on the estate. Add some incest as the sexy moment, keeping it in that family. Otherwise, it is humiliation, rape and abuse, beginning to end. Dark drama, not exciting. It will put you to sleep. Wake up from snoozing, more ugliness on the screen. Family members dislike each other, resulting in predictable schemes and infighting. Indescribably bad series that somehow got picked up by Netflix. Thankfully there are only 7 episodes with an odd twist at the end of this sub-standard work.
The universal theme of rich and poor is one that will always intrigue. However, to create intrigue, the plot needs intricacies, peppered with ambiguity, to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat and scrambling for the remote to 'skip intro'. This doesn't have a lot of that. In fact I found myself using the FF button on some episodes to stop the pain of some of the acting. Then Episode 7 comes along. Beautifully filmed and creates the buzz I'd been waiting for throughout... they should have used some of this to create the intrigue needed in the first episode... Overall, too obvious, some atrocious acting but enough to keep me watching. I'm glad it's over though... or is it?
