Leah, 10, lives in a large vicarage, full of lost souls and the needy. In the day the house is bustling with people; at night it is dark, empty, a space for Leah's nightmares to creep into. A small, nightly visitor brings Leah comfort, but soon she will realise that her little visitor offers knowledge that might be very, very dangerous.

This is a slow burn film that kept me engrossed the entire movie. Great acting, especially from the two young leads; I found it mesmerising.
First off, this is not a horror movie in the usual sense. It is more a ghost story and a tale of loss. You'll likely figure out the twist early, but the two child actresses sell the story and keep you invested. The people that rated this low are likely the types of mouthbreathers that just want lots of spooky jumpscares and gore. If you're this type, you'll likely hate this movie. But if you want a slow, but steady study on grief, loss and letting go, give this one a look.
The young actors really carried this. The lead who played Leah showed a lot of emotion and character for such a young actor. I think the mom died in the end to. That's why they were moving. And she sees her playing the piano and why they do not show her face again. Check it out.it's a slow burn. My type. No jump scares.
The two little girls' acting skills elevate an already engrossing story into excellence. The plot is not unique, but the production is so well done and the characters so engaging that it feels new and different.
I thought that this was a very good movie .The pace was a bit slow but the acting by these 2 talented young girls was quite brilliant .
As much as many horror genre fans hate to admit it, ghosts stories are deeply spiritual. There's has been a resurgence of interest in the ghost story as an exploration of mortality in recent years. Films such as The Dark and the Wicked, Saint Maud and Relic for example all address death and loss almost exclusively as a spiritual experience. In Martyrs Lane, all the usual Horror tropes are stripped bare, leaving only the only true significance of any ghost story; a contemplation on death. It occasionally makes for some uncomfortable viewing. Perhaps one of the more successful aspects of this story was the way it incorporated faith and religion. I think we've grown used to seeing the religion as some kind of superpower in the fight against demonic possession, here through, faith is effectively powerless as an instrument of change. The acting performances and direction are incredible. This is a touching exploration of our place in the world, our existence and a powerful reminder of how short our time on earth can me.
