Right, well I had never heard about this 2018 Kenyan romantic comedy titled "Disconnect". But of course I opted to sit down and watch it, as I had the opportunity here in 2022. I can't claim that writers Natasha Likimani and Silas Miami managed to put together a storyline and script that appealed to me. The movie felt like it was aimed solely at a female audience. So I wasn't getting any entertainment value out of this movie. I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble here, as this was my first Kenyan movie ever. And I can't say that it was because of the actresses or actors that the movie didn't appeal to me, because the cast did put on adequate enough performances. It was solely the storyline that fell short of finding any appeal with me. If you enjoy the sugar-rushed sappy romantic comedy genre, spruced up with the ilk of "Sex and the City", then perhaps you should give "Disconnect" a chance. Perhaps this movie from directors David 'Tosh' Gitonga and Michael Jones will be something worthwhile for you. My rating of "Disconnect" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

I enjoyed the film but like a few others have said the ending threw me off. I just thought that the two main characters were getting together and then out of nowhere they end up with other people and we don't really get an explanation as of why. Are they simply not ready? Did they decide that dating would be too hard? I also thought the dialogue was really slow in some places. It could have been a lot better at a different pace. Overall a fun movie. The soundtrack was really good and I especially loved that all the characters were young professionals.

Movies like these are what we need as a growing industry in Kenya. Great story, Super awesome cast. Keep it up Tosh!

This is the type of movie that should have 2 or 3 alternate endings because this one really sucked. Yes the whole movie is cliche and has been done over and over again. Platonic Best friends who realize there is something more there and that they should be together. Or should they? This ending was not cliche. It actually went in this opposite direction of what one would expect. But, we weren't even given any insight into why they made the choices they did. I couldn't stand the one character that kept pushing up on dude. ( I'm horrible with names. But if you watched you know who I'm talking about). She was just a horrible character and a horrible person. Not really sure why she was in the movie. But there were a lot of witty moments. Everyone in the movie was fashionable and beautiful so it was nice to watch.

I love the role of Aseem Sharma because her acting is very realistic, keep forward Aseem

I got the opportunity to watch this move when it appeared on Netflix, and i fell in love with it, especially the soundtrack. It felt original but related-able and just a huge laugh the whole time, Would definitely recommend this to different people.

IMDB needs to allow us to rate films Zero. The Kenyan Film industry needs a total shutdown and destruction so that it can rise from the ashes. Same old faces that have been boring us for the past 20 years with the same old try-hard barely convincing acting. This is a "brave" film where we see Kenyans say progressive things like '*', 'patriachy', 'open relationships' for the sake of it. Very poor acting, a plot that heads nowhere and an attempt at being cool and proving that the director is upto date with the latest feministic lingo. Save yourself the pain of wasting your time trying to watch this nonsense. Just record yourself saying the latest woke head lingo over and over for 2 hours, then buy pop corns and watch yourself.

Dope work from Kenya. Africa is coming up to level with the west when it comes to the movie industry. The characters were awesome. Good plot.

Awesome movie. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! That does not happen to me often. Multiple stories all interesting all going in parallel. Very well acted and directed. Music matches the theme. Overall great.
