Chief Daddy 2
Mediocre at best. A mix of too many famous (famous not meaning good) actors and a script that has so many holes it might as well be a sieve. Need 2 hours worth of proof that Nollywood is mostly just transactional at the cost of actual art? Watch this.
Was wowed by this movie from the outset. Great cinematography, excellent costuming & an A list cast. But the movie quickly disintegrated into a laughing stock of a story line. The plot began with great promise, get Chief Daddy's money back, but this never materialised into anything as the only plan to do so was to... make his son a huge super star??? They all ended up in Dubai which seemed to serve no purpose other than to bring an international element (& hype) to the film. And the A list cast failed to deliver. In fact, there were too many of them! The film felt cluttered, overcasted with a rambling, incoherent plot line that had too many unnecessary parts & grew more & more ridiculous until we are finally given our release (the film drags on to the point of begging it to end) with a completely bonkers ending. The only saving grace is that these are seasoned actors and combined with beautiful cinematography, great locations & a beautifully cladded cast, the movie just about manages to save itself from being one of the worst big budget films to be released from Nollywood this year or maybe ever.
