Ex machina meets Arrival meets Never let me go. I feel bad when a movie this fantastic haven't been rated more than one thousand times on IMDb. I feel like movies that only comes out on Netflix doesn't get the attention that it deserves. This movie deserves an Oscar in screenplay, best actress in a supporting role and in visual effects. No doubt.
This could have been a very good movie. The plot is good and the acting is good, but being bombarded by "emotional" music (some even with lyrics) again and again and again, really cancels out the emotion it was supposed to evoke (in me at least).
Only suited for the braindead. There is only so much ridiculousness I can bare to take and this movie goes over that threshold from the very start. Great actors for sure. And the story, in essence, could have been interesting, BUT it is executed in such a sentimental, lovey dovey ridiculous way that my brain starts to melt.
The great dilema of human being: What is mankind?. We was created in any way we dont know. The same question is in our minds when we think what if we try to do the same (Or how we can fail). How love is real ?, what´s a feeling? : a chemical impulse, genetics, not real, requires real flesh? What or who do we love?: another being, a thougt, a way of life???. The film tries to show some things. I Tthink is a good try.But the most important thing is how Science Fiction helps to do the questions.....and may be , the answers. Always beatyfull and enigmatic Lea Seydoux. Ewan Mc Gregor whit some leaks. And a little help of the arising Theo James
When you write a script that wants to tell a story about the feelings an A.I. can have, you definitely don't want to put misconceptions and clichés in it. Unfortunately, that's exactly the case in this movie. As a Sci-Fi movie, I was hoping the movie would display a thought-provoking future, but it only shows us the same world as we live in, but with robots and dating systems that never would work when you start to think about it even a little bit. I don't get why others compare it to "Her" or "Ex Machina", those movies both give a lot more depth in what A.I. is, how it works, and where some problems lie. Oh, and those movies have an exciting plot, this movie just shows us the same kind of scenes over and over again. I feel that the whole story could have been told in just a few scenes. The editing was not too good either, on a technical level the movie is very 'eh' to me. The colored shots didn't really stand out to me, either. Now on the plus side, the actors are great, but in this movie they're just wasting talent. This movie is also really good in capturing love scenes, which is probably the purpose this film is made for. It's like a 1.5 hour romantic film just for the romance, but they threw some robots in. After all, I don't hate the movie itself, and it truly wasn't a torment to watch, but the story is just filled with nothing and it represents a misleading and plain view on A.I.
