cool
I expected this movie to be better than the first one, The Wave, but I was very disappointed. Most of the movie is boring family drama. Like many other disaster movies, it has a kid who runs away and doesn't do as she's told, which creates even more drama. The buildup to the disaster took too long and when it first started, it was over too fast. There were also a lot of unanswered questions about the storyline. I really wanted this movie to be good and I really thought it would be, because of all the hype and all the positive critics reviews, but I was bored most of the movie.
I love natural disaster movies, but in this one the disaster didn't start until after half of the movie, and it could've been better.
Besides from the plot being unrealistic, the characters have clearly not learned ANYTHING from their past experiences and trauma, and continue to make the same mistakes they did in the first movie. So many things were done for shock value and not actually doing the movie any favors. Points for good acting and good CGI but honestly other than that, don't waste your time on this movie. The prequel was decent.
They essentially built the film around some good cgi. A very slow start. Then it accelerates into a thrilling disaster but, having painted the victims into a hair raising corner, we are told: "Then they escaped. The End." What a cop-out! Overall, rather annoying.
