It started like a cliché, it was slow at ths beginning, and repetitive because of the heists, but it delivered all the good stuff afterwards. A true love story is what made me grade it so high! A sad end...
Scene opens in Madrid. Enter Angel, a mechanic, who wants to get out if his day to day life, and looks a neighborhood petty thief and begins a life of crime. Angel is cool, but he is naive, makes wrong moves at first . Lots of charisma throughout the movie from Angel and Estella who passionately stick together despite their complicated relationship. The film is slick, but leaps around from jail to jail, bail to bail for Angel as he yearns for fast cars and rich life-style, as he accepts the corruption that goes with the territory. Dogged by the police, it is a cat and mouse game for Angel. He has to be both daring and clever to keep on top of his game. The question is, " it it worth it?"
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Couldn't quite finish it. It is sort of like they made an outline for a movie and then forgot to actually connect all the items together in the story. Even if they had, it would still suck. The plot is bad and rushed. A story that should take place over the course of multiple years appears to take place over the course of a few months- or maybe it doesn't since there's no indication of time at all in the story. Maybe something happened the next day, or maybe it happened three years later. Maybe he somehow developed a very strong relationship with a lawyer in two short jailhouse meetings, or maybe they worked together for years. There's just so much missing from the story. And again, I'm not convinced it would actually be a good story even if you added in the connective tissue.
How an incompetent director can destroy a good plot. The scenes are disconnected and makes the movie difficult to follow.
I was drawn to this title due to Luis Tovar being in the cast, which is an amazing actor. Yet, his screen time was a total about like 2 minutes. As mentioned in other comments, the characters aren't developed at all and some situations doesn't have a meaningful explanation. The main character from being an average mechanic goes to be from one scene to another a mastermind in heists. No background on this whatsoever. For example. The character of Estrella drives a BMW M4 but she's a hair saloon stylist and lives in low class community. So you have to assume that she got that car due to her former boyfriend "Poli" from previous heists. They shouldn't list Luis Tovar as part of the main cast when he was rarely on screen, this is false advertising. At times this movie looked like a comedy on how the script made the police act so dumb, they were always like two steps behind and always making a fool of themselves.
Bad is little. I can't believe people get paid to work in this industry. Why better not donate the money to people in need. They are criminalers of the seventh art. But!! Good action!!! . . . .... nnoooootttt.
A bad write, bad acting, and fools like me = two hours wasted.
