As a 23 years old i have to say i also enjoy this a lot! You can really tell the care and intricate detail they put into creating the scenery and environment. You can see the texture on Circle's surface changing as she is talking, the hand crafted vibe flower and river and tree and forest and beaches. The stories are fun to watch too! A bit quirky but a fun thing to watch and turn my brain off after a whole day of work. The character designs are good too! We really get to know the main cast , square, circle and triangle through the season! And they all have unique personality and each comes with their own pros and cons. For adults watching this show, i recommend just turning your brain off, and enjoy the beautiful scenery created by the artists.
My little one is two and a half and a huge fan of the books, which are deceptively simple, beautifully illustrated and just a little bit weird. So I approached this with some trepidation. I need not have worried. The animation is absolutely gorgeous. The watercolour textures from the books are preserved and every frame is full of the most wonderful blink-and-you'll-miss-them details. Cotton wool steam emerges from a kettle, at Square's house a tapestry of the three friends holding hands hangs on the wall. The stories are sweet and funny and yes, just a little bit weird. The voice acting and narration are pitch perfect. I don't think my toddler is the target audience, it's pitched at slightly older kids and I'm pretty sure most of the jokes go over his head, but he loves it all the same, and so does his mother. As my son would say.. "more please".
So the characters are named Square, Circle, and Triangle, despite them being a cube, a sphere, and a pyramid. And that is exactly what my 3yo said watching thins. Gave up after 5 minutes because it's dumbfoundedly created. I don't know the background to this, but it seems to me that some creator might want to revisit geometry from grade school. After putting at least a medium amount of effort in the creation, one could hope for something better. But alas. The stories are weird, the characters wrongly named and the voice actors just kind of annoying. Too bad, I wanted to like this as I though it would be educational.
