What a great find. Excellent humor, drama and story. We watched it 3 times.
Quite funny. Many ham it up before other characters who remain po-faced at much. Not unlike those who came and stayed in several isolated communities across many places on earth. With less blue words than The King's Speech (actually there is non at all). What's with all the back-slapping about rural Australia - from Australians? Do the English natter on about splendid period pieces? Do the American reviewers harp on about wide open spaces in many various movies out of Hollywood? 'good ol' Aussie 70s classics...' Um... wasn't the closing track Pete Townsend's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_My_Love_Open_the_Door
This is the average family movie, weird ass scenes, a boy with a weird hair cut, a girl who hates everything, a fat dad, and a kinda strict mom. So bad that this movie played at the dentist. Edit: This was the wrong movie, please ignore this review.
I'm just gonna say it. If a dog is a man's best friend, then why are there so many chick flicks about dogs? Most dog films are for children and grandmas. But this film is all about a group of blue collar men gathered in a pub, swapping stories about a mangy dog who changed their lives. And it is quite moving.
My husband and I had the pleasure of seeing this movie yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a beautiful movie and had some very funny moments and some sad moments. Whilst this film is based on a true story, some poetic license seems to have been given to it. My husband hasn't laughed so much for a long, long time. The acting perhaps wasn't the greatest, but I still believe most people would enjoy this film and it is well worth seeing. It was nice to see a movie without violence and very little swearing for a change.
