This movie is not just about family conflict. It's also about the urge to preserving traditional culture in modern era, where people have their own desires which may contradict with the culture. It's a story most family could relate to. For the drama, it's met my expectation, it successfully makes me cry. I was skeptical with the comedy, I always find comedy in movies are cringe. But this one is not, the comedy feels like it's just happened naturally. Even though this movie is more focused on the drama, sometimes I laughed at the funny scenes. There's a lot of Bataknese culture showed in this movie. The beautiful views of Toba Lake made this movie even more better. I enjoyed it a lot. Really a worth try!

I'm a little confused about this film, whether it falls into the comedy or drama film genre, because in this film it pays more attention to the plot and I'm confused about where the comedy lies. Maybe if judged in terms of drama flow, this film can be appreciated because the plot that is presented is like a continuous drama plot. But if judged because this film is labelled a comedy film, I don't know where the location of the jokes that should be brought up, maybe this film is a little worse than "somewhat laen". Because this film is too focused on the author's customs and is more like introducing Batak culture to the audience. The visuals of this film are a little strange because of the dark theme, maybe there are some comedy films that use this viusal but in this film it just doesn't fit. 6/10.

In order to let go of the longing, a couple carried out a divorce plan so that their wandering children would go back to their hometowns. All of that didn't go smoothly. Honestly, I still didn't expect that this movie is so good. It is rare to see an Indonesian film with a family theme like this film. Moreover, this film contains cultural elements from the Batak tribe. We are shown about Batak culture in the form of advice or speech that there is dialogue and daily activities of the community in certain scenes in the film. In addition, we are also invited to see the beauty side of Lake Toba. I think this film tells the story of a family that is not far from the reality of the family in Indonesia today. Many of the events in the film relate to the experiences around me. It's no wonder that so many people are crying to see this movie, including me, who also participated in this film. Many scenes break with a very heart-wrenching moral message. Likewise, dialogue is not long-winded but so deeply felt that we feel sympathetic and melted. The character development throughout the film is so dynamic that we can feel the problems of each family member. The acting of the actors is also very fitting and looks natural. One scene that I find most memorable, the justification scene in the living room. Although this film is a family drama, it is also inseparable from the comedic elements that are also unsaturated and light. Everything in the film, indeed, is 'ngeri-ngeri sedap'. Although the cast is a well-known comic artist, it does not make this film look solely funny. Not many comedic elements are wasted. Comedy is on the right dialogue and situation so elements of comedy are easy to come by. Boris Bokir, Indra Jegel, Lolox and Gita Bhebita are in fact capable of playing drama in totality.

Not just a family drama, but also shows the gender role and expectation in the household. Nice music, landscape and culture story of Batak :) really good acting! From crying, laughing and angry moment, they got it all perfect. Taught us about cultural ceremony and value of Batak; family is number 1. Make me feel missing home Now :) and definitely worth of my tears to watch the happy ending. Congrats the crew! You made it to the academy award! We want more this kind of film being produce and watch by Indonesian families and beyond. Really like the sense of humor here! Not too much but well accepted.

This film presents a very relatable family conflict (especially for Batak people). No wonder many are emotional after watching. Funny moments and dramatic elements are delivered in balance. This film combines human problems with local identity that is well-told and deeply personal.
