I just wasted parted of my life watching this stupid, ridiculous, horrible, boring, awful, one of the worst movies I ever had the misfortune of seeing, movie. I can not believe that Julia Roberts associated herself with this movie. I love her in most things she has been in, but not even she could save this movie for me. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. I don't even think very many children would like this movie. I can not believe that someone wrote this absolute garbage plot line and story. The only reason I kept watching this movie, was I thought it has to get better, boy was I wrong. The musical number at the end of the wedding and movie just put it over the top as absolutely horrid.
If you have Julia Roberts on board you make the movie, even if there is no reason to tell this story again. Good family entertainment. Best appreciated if you see it with your daughter or grand-daughter. If you have a strong woman in Snow White why do they have to dumb down the Prince? Snow is pretty even with eye brows that rival Andy Rooney. The dwarfs are an interesting group and a highlight. Very good looking movie with great art direction and costume design. There's even a Ballywood song ending. Go with low expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised.
It was not completely unwatchable, but for the money they spent making this film, you would think that they would have worked their imagination a little harder. The movie tries to be funny, but when you have to make such an effort, it usually falls flat and this one landed with a thud. Lily Collins does look a little like Snow White, and she does seem like a sweet girl, but this movie has the feel of people wanting to do something nice for her famous father, Phil Collins. Also, with such a big budget, you would expect sets and wardrobes that match the money spent. Instead, it actually looks and feels cheap. I suppose all the money went to paying stars like Julia Roberts, who was quite unconvincing in her role. In future retelling of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Mirror Mirror" will be a good reference of how not to ruin a perfectly good fairy tale.
One of the best looking bad movies ever. Honestly, this is nearly awful. The script is one of the worst of the year, no doubt, way too cutesy and faux-hip. It's a re-imagining of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs story. Lily Collins is Snow White, Julia Roberts her evil stepmother and Armie Hammer as the handsome prince. The actors all do fine, but they're lost in a script that anyone with a brain would have thrown in the trash. Tarsem proves himself yet again to be one of the most visually inventive directors of modern cinema, and the costumes and set designs are some of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Honestly, I'd love to see this up for Oscars in both costumes and art direction. It's almost worth seeing for that reason, but it may not be enough. As I said, the actors do fine, and if you're a fan of Roberts or think either of the leads are good looking, it might be worth a shot.
