Janaki Jaane took the most ordinary topic and turned it into something grand. So many lessons learned from the effects of fear. DELICIOUS -The film had a nice and quiet vibe. It was calming to see the beauty and greenery of Karalam village We were gently invited into Janaki's world, seeing how paranoid she was about being alone, being in the dark, hearing noise, going to the toilet, etc. -It was great that the screenplay didn't consider anxiety as a disorder or tried to make excuses for it by advocating medication or self-pity. The movie propelled us to analyze the root of fear and encourage us to be freed from this bondage -Navya Nair and Saiju Kurup had a good harmony together. We believed her performance during the panic attack while Saiju was comic and strong in character. Although we wonder if he would have still been this strong had he not experienced the previous panic episodes with Janaki before the climax?🤔 The supporting cast provided great assistance to the main cast! BLAND ---The movie had a sloooow start. The shuffling scenes between Janaki and the political candidates were a little dull, not moving the story forward until about 56 minutes into the movie. It was only our curiosity that kept us going.
The movie was a strong vehicle for so many things that could have been. A strong foundation, great character development, good cast, powerful plot, real life relevance and so much more that had this movie going for it, but somewhere the direction was lost. My personal view was that the movie spent so much time building it's premise, it's character development and setting up the finale that eventually they ran out of time or even worse, the plot for the finale. The casting is spot on and I'm always just amazed by the talent that abounds in character actors all across the Southern industries especially Tamil and Malayalam. I only wish that the movie had closed stronger and more time spent on the core of her transition rather than the extensive time spent in the premise.
