Bruce Campbell is the only redeeming quality of Black Friday. Yes, the production is okay, the cast too, but the humor just does not work very well and the horror is at most okayish. On paper a mix of Blob, Superstore and a buddy horror comedy a la Shaun of the Dead may look good but the execution meanders something on the edge of average and below average. What I miss mostly is some unique spark. Also there never is really some suspense like for example in the story of The Mist. Exact rate: 3 + 1 for Mr. Campbell's solid performance.
If you're after a fun little holiday thrill with some laughs thrown in, Black Friday might be the movie for you. Sure there's no character development, and the plot gets a little ridiculous at times but you aren't watching a B movie for character development of academy award level writing. Black Friday doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither should you. For a small budget movie the skin work is great. It was great to see Devon Sawas (Final Destination) all grown up and Bruce Campbell is funny as ever. When trying to imagine Black, Friday, think Netflix comedy Superstore, if the store was attacked by aliens.
the name 📛 just reminds me of jumia
A group of employees for a local big chain store are tasked with the black Friday shift starting at 12 a.m. Thanksgiving night. Unfortunately for them a D. N. A. Restructuring organism has hitched a ride on a meteorite and struck their store changing everyone it comes in contact with. Can the uninfected employees survive this ordeal? Bruce Campbell is a delight and is prominent throughout. Could have been funnier but was amusing enough. Acting was fine. Gore was good. 6.1-6.4 stars out of 10.
People that gave this low ratings honestly haven't seen enough b-rated horror movies. Don't come in with high expectations people, it's meant to be silly and over the top but with some truth/reality of how crazy people can be and don't forget this is meant to be fun and crazy which it is. It reminds me of something from Tales from the Crypt!
Clearly a hollywood movie producer that want to lift up with the black friday annually day. Like the horror movies during halloween but this movie just hitting the meaning of the day totally wrong or anything nicely related. The acting is done oke, camera Hollywood style and level. Clearly the movie had some budget. Overall there are some good moments but way too classic and to simple nothing deep or innovative making he movie boring. BTW digital special effect is really terrible, if you do not have the budget try to solve it in another way! As it is clear there should be a next movie, with that background of the ending. The points are given to the acting and still highly camera and sound.
