Godmothered is an interesting take on the Godmother tripe and a Christmas movie. I actually like the Godmother part, but it was a bad idea to make it a Christmas movie. I liked the Disney Animation movie references. I think the acting was just like I expected and the atmosphere was fine. In the end it was just a Disney Plus take on the Netflix knight movies. Honestly I hoped Elanor got clear redemption for her misstep, but yes it's maybe a too simple movie to do that. Sadly they didn't give us backstory about how the Godmothers forgot their passion for being a Godmother. I think the tone from Raise of the Guardians was better for this movie.
I am usually a Disney skeptic for its cheese factor with Princess movies, but much like Enchanted (Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey) this film teaches that there is more to true love than just between two people. It's within families, extended families, new families and friends. You can truly love helping someone find the happiness within them. Kicking off 2021 on New Year's Day with this film is just the thing to brush off the holiday blues. I watched with my adult special needs sister and even she spontaneously applauded at several happy moments! 😃 So, Brava Jillian Bell and Isla Fisher!!!
Thought Noelle was just terrible so wasn't expecting much out of this one, but was pleasantly surprised. Jillian bell is hilarious, and rest of the ensemble cast are all great. Definitely worth the watch for the family during the Christmas season.
First thing it's a good family film and it's perfect for Disney plus. The film tries to hard to be like enchanted but it's not and that's the main flaw. The acting is great and they do there best from a weak script.
I was so bored. Everything about this is slow, but it also seemed like the actors were bored, especially Fisher. I came to this because of her, but she just seemed like she didn't want to be there, so neither did I. Just very meh.
