I'm giving a solid five stars, and that is a high rating due to the fact that I love a good Christian film. And the great rendition of God's got me at the end it's almost worth the whole film -- by SYDNI Eure. This film is very low level. It's always nice to see Tyrone and nice of him to lend his name to this touching story. But honestly I didn't even know there was such a thing as acting this bad outside of high school lol You would think that they could retake a couple of scenes and try to get it more realistic. This videography was so amateur that instead of starting with the camera panned out and zooming in they started zoomed in and waited for the actors to get into the screen. As much as I love a good faith based story, it is a little sad that so many of them are so amateur. I had to fast forward some of this because it was very redundant and the story was quite pedestrian - something that is a very common scenario. It's your very basic vanilla Christian film with passable - barely passable - acting . I was expecting more emotion, not including the over acting from the mother character, and more insight into what this man was going through but instead this film expects the acting and dialogue to express everything with flashbacks and occasional narration on the part of the lead character. But having said that I do appreciate when people make a Christian film. But I will say that I am not a big fan of pure flicks, because it does create a motivation for people to create bad Christian films, and trust me just because you talk about Christianity or God or faith it doesn't mean that your Bible based or that you're accurately educating others. This would be a good film for teens to watch, especially if they are getting into trouble a lot.
Three minutes in and you just know this is a D grade movie filled with D grade acting, and probably voted up by the religious lobby. There are only so many words in the dictionary to describe this religious trash; pap, pulp, slop, slush, swill, mash, gloop, glop, refuse, garbage, train wreck, junk, dross, detritus and dregs just about cover it, and that applies to the story line, the rotten, unconvincing acting, and the pointless closeups of alleged actors. Not even the doctors or surgeons can work up a convincing stare. Avoid this poor excuse for a movie. It isn't even worth stealing. Seriously, it's that bad. Avoid it like it will give you the plague.
This is a true story and I appreciate that it was told, and obviously on a tight budget. The acting is poor and cumbersome staging, however, with that being said, the true story is genuine, pure and inspirational. I'm glad I stuck in there to watch in its entirety...because honestly, I will definitely remember this young man's story of hope, faith, transformation, love and who cares about the production of it. I'm so glad it was shared and told. I don't have much else to say since my review is quite straightforward. Just don't judge on the message on the production of story. Give it a chance. 🙂
Just watched this movie on Pure Flix. Based on a true story. Has a surprise ending. It's perfectly fine for kids 12 and up. Has a conflicted faith theme. Don't be afraid to watch, despite the apparent subject matter - nothing will make you squeamish. Solid acting and directing - beautifully filmed. You'll learn something - I did! Strange that IMDB does not credit the lead character first: Devin Sherman is played by Tyrone Jackson, who delivers a powerful character at once strong, angry, sometimes violent, yet thoughtful, caring, and resilient. A tour de force for TiZak, revealing his range, depth, and genuineness. Clare Lopez's chemistry with Tyrone Jackson creates "the couple" that perseveres together - totally works from their first appearance on screen to the final moments. A lesser actress might let this role drift in secondary focus, but Clare brings it out in three full dimensions, and you come to really love her. A wholesome thoughtful story - would recommend to anyone who likes the serious style of challenges faced, lessons learned, and exploring the reasons for steadfast faith.
