Synopsis: Vivah is all about the journey of a couple, deeply in love with each other, from engagement to wedding. Poonam (Amrita Rao) a simple homely girl, gets engaged to a rich business man's son Prem (Shahid Kapoor). Poonam being an orphan is taken care by her uncle and aunt, Krishna Kant (Alok Nath) and Rama (Seema Biswas). Since Poonam is beautiful and fair than her own daughter Rajni (Amrita Prakashan), Rama is always jealous of Poonam and dislikes her. But Poonam's only wish was to get love from her aunt whom she treated more than a mother. Prem who was initially not very interested in getting married, as he wanted to concentrate on his career, agrees for the marriage after meeting Poonam and falls in love with her from the first meeting itself. Their marriage date is fixed after six months and in this duration continous meetings of both the families give a chance to both, Prem and Poonam, to have a blissful time. During this period itself, Prem gets an opportunity to focus on his career and go to foreign country for the same. Both the families gets busy in marrige preparations, once Prem returns to India. As the celebrations are going on, Rama gets angry on Krishna Kant as he is spending lavishly on Poonam's wedding, and fears that no money will be left for their own daughter Rajni's marriage. Because of which, she acts coldly with Poonam and stays away from the wedding preparations. One night before the wedding, fire breaks out in their house. Poonam manages to escape but soon realises that her beloved sister Rajni is
