Opetaia controlled long stretches of the fight with movement, speed, and sharp combinations, while Briedis had success in close-range exchanges and tried to slow him down with pressure and counters. Opetaia also suffered a broken jaw during the fight, but still managed to outbox Briedis and win on the scorecards (116–112, 116–112, 115–113).
