Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgović was a fascinating heavyweight fight — but was Itauma actually beaten, or did his own preparation let him down? In this fight review, I break down the problems with Itauma’s performance and, more importantly, the decisions made by the Itauma team in preparing him for Hrgović. Itauma showed flashes of the talent that makes him such an exciting heavyweight prospect, but as the fight progressed, fatigue became his biggest enemy. I look at whether the focus on power punching and trying to hurt Hrgović came at the expense of setting up attacks, conserving energy and managing the pace of the fight. I also examine Hrgović’s performance and explain why I don't necessarily believe he simply "beat" Itauma — rather, Itauma's lack of preparation for the demands of a long, physically taxing fight may have ultimately been his undoing.
