Then Abdullah Mason showed exactly why so many in the boxing world believe he is destined for stardom. Just three months after surviving two first-round knockdowns before brutally stopping Dominican veteran Johan Vasquez in the second round, the 20-year-old Cleveland southpaw delivered another devastating statement. Armed with blistering hand speed, sharp intelligence, elite skill, and serious power, Mason dropped Jaimes once in the second round, again in the third, and twice more in the fourth. The destruction ended at 1:55 of Round 4 when Mason blasted Jaimes with a short right uppercut that flattened him on his back, forcing referee David Fields to immediately wave off the scheduled 10-round lightweight bout.
