The main event of the show featured a WWF Championship Triple Threat match; Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Kane vs Undertaker. Vince McMahon guarenteed that Steve Austin will lose the championship at this event, and in order to stack the odds against the champ, Kane and The Undertaker are not allowed to pin or submit eachother. Break Down features another triple threat match, an excellent cage match featuring Ken Shamrock, Mankind and The Rock. The winner of the triple threat match becomes the number 1 contender for the WWF title, and this cage match would turn out even better than the pay per view main event. Elsewhere on the card Owen Hart takes on Edge, Dustin Runnels wrestles Val Venis, and D-Generation X compete in a 6 man tag match against Jeff Jarrett and Southern Justice.
