This was an event held in 1954 in Macau (Ao Men). Macau was a Portuguese territory back then, so that's the only reason this type of "combat" Kung Fu would be allowed. White Crane representative is Chen Ke Fu (陈克夫 or Chan Hakfu) and Wu Tai Chi representative is Wu Gong Yi (吴公仪). Both were headmasters of their respective schools. They fought because they were fighting for students apparently. Either way, this event is a great case-study in what happens when two martial arts practitioners go at it without any sparring or fight experience. You can see how far fighting and combat sports has come. Very, very interesting! Hope you enjoy the commentary featuring Rob Watt!
