🛠️ Let's take a look inside the biggest Godot game of all time and one of my personal favorites, the much anticipated Slay the Spire 2. Concerned? Don't be! Games regardless of engine can be extracted / decompiled (like for modding!) to various degrees and Jake Card, the game's lead developer is happy to let us learn from it: 💬 "It’d make me extremely happy to find out that other game developers learned something from reading through our code and our scenes :)" Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1rm7ueb/comment/o8zqpit/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button We also review a few techniques to make decompiling more difficult. - Godot Secure: https://github.com/KnifeXRage/Godot-Secure - GMaim: https://github.com/cherriesandmochi/gdmaim Some smaller studios may not have the time or resources to fight, so the extra protection from these tools may deter the lowest effort copy cats. If you want to learn more about the project's structure and what we can learn, check out this live stream where I go more into more detail! https://www.youtube.com/live/VRxHjSwPc8E?si=0fgc0Xm5JFapT12_ You can also read MegaCrit's AMA where they answer how Godot works their team. They go in depth on code & development here and how switching to Godot was easy due to how they split visuals and logic: https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1rdqanv/comment/o7dnbd7/ And see my other videos for Godot Multiplayer tutorials! I love to help people make multiplayer games in Godot!
