Too many people hit and drive incorrectly in amateur sumo for the Butsukari drill/warm up You want to hit UP and back, not just straight back you do NOT want to be looking down at the ground, this means your upper body positioning is angled too far foward, so you need to drop your hips lower to achieve the correct chugoshi position. Thumbs up, versus your hands being straight up (making an L shape with your thumbs )...using the incorrect hand placement means your elbows are likely to "bow out" and you are putting yourself in a compromising position (underhooks, or your opponent's ability to swim in on your belt). hips UNDER you so that you can't be pulled foward and down...if you feel like your legs/feet are trying to "keep up"? then your hips are out of position.
