Coaches on the beach should be knowledgeable regarding common injuries and how to keep young athletes healthy while training. Scott MacKay, Head Athletic Trainer for the U.S. Beach National Teams, explains the differences in demand on the body in the beach game and provides coaches with ideas of ways they can train young beach athletes. MacKay emphasizes the need to give young athletes more general opportunities to become a better “mover” and solve different tasks while moving. MacKay also provides recommendations of ways to involve athletes in the game when they are injured. 00:00 - Introduction 01:52 - Common Beach Volleyball Injuries 03:07 - Training for an Unstable Surface 05:35 - Coaching Youth Beach Athletes 08:54 - Encouraging Athlete Communication 11:15 - The Importance of a Proper Warm-Up 13:35 - The Pillars of Athlete Recovery
