it made me sadand a little pissed off but the series overall is good
My OCD is killin' me. I literally came to read reviews just to soothe myself and make sure that I wasn't the only one who was driven BONKERS by all of the name pronunciation changes after TWELVE BOOKS...Xcor (previously pronounced Score) = Core, Zhex (Zex) = Hex, Havers (Hay-vers) = Hav-ers...the Primale is now the Pre-Molly??!! Like what in the actual??!! It is so dang distracting! Vent over. I like these books. This is definitely not my favorite as far as story lines go and I'm obviously disappointed by the above-mentioned factors. That being said, I will continue to read the newest books because I've come this far. BUT if she does something extreme like change Fritz's name to Freetz, I'm out!
once again J our ward has written a Nother great Black dagger brother good book it is very exciting and I was unable to put it down and it has some emotional scenes in it but it is a very exciting book
I am not fussed about the (mis) pronounciation I have heard worse like including the "P" in pteradactyl. LOL But it felt like misery for all. Leila was miserable, Xcor was miserableIam and Trez were miserable selena was miserable even Rhage was iffy.If I wanted to be depressed I would read Nicholas Sparks or Danielle Steel.I love the BDB and cannot wait for the next Chapter with the Training Center Opening. Hey Warden who peed in your cornflakes lol.
Jim Frangione has narrated the entire BDBbook series, and now in the 13th book decides to change how he pronunciates the names of our beloved characters. it was so distracting, I found it difficult to immerse myself into The Shadows. Why, Jim?
I enjoyed listening to this installment from J. R Ward. I think Mr. Frangione is a great reader. Only draw back was in the outcome for one of the shadow characters.I am trying not to spoil it but one of the brothers doesn't get the ending I wanted for him. I would have given him a much happier ending. Overall a good listen and good info for future books!
This book overwhelmed me in so many ways.I was drawn in completely for the full 22 hours--unreal.I loved it and kind of hated it all at the same time.In a nutshell I was conflicted throughout! JR Ward definitely knows how to serve up a multi-layered storyline that leaves you a heaping mass of emotions in the end.Shadows has everything you would want in an epic tale--intriguing characters with a colorful past, drama, romance, humor, heartbreak, redemption, you name it, it's in this book. All that said, the Shadows is a slight departure from what I'm accustomed to in terms of an HEA.What should've been a 5-star winner across the board, is a 3 overall, but its definitely worth a listen and a credit. I'm a 'lifer' when it comes to being a Ward fan-girl!
I used to be into J R Ward books, I don't know if it is the style that has changed or the way the characters have, but I could not get past the first few chapters. I am sorry, but this is not my style of book. J R Ward is a great author and this is only my opinion when it comes to the books.
struggled to finish not as engaging as others too long didn't like the narration as much as others in series
Took a while to finish this book. With the others in the BDB series, there is quite a bit of hints of all that Shadows can do when fighting and yet this book mentions no special tricks. There's a lot of love, and talking. I honestly don't know I keep buying and reading these books. The eroticness seems to have disappeared with Lovermine.
