I dislike the protagonist. No amount of witty gamer jokes and snark can make him likeable. He doesn't seem to be able to form relationships in his new game world. The people around him don't seem much better at it. There aren't any characters I can latch onto and say I can relate to or care about. After 2 novels he hasn't grown as a person or done anything but level up as a 2-d cardboard cutout game character. He did help out as a healer to the poor and that part was interesting. It could be funny if we are not supposed to believe anyone else is a real person. If everyone were dumb, scripted NPCs then the snark would be funny.I just find him to be an abusive, childish narcissist. That is what I think.... but I will probably read the rest of the books because they can be entertaining and perhaps the setting and plot will eventually be explained.
I just can't bear listening to lists of numbers and ranks. if I wanted to deal with that I'd go play a game rather than listen to some one else's game.
Solid adventure, funny protagonist with great dialogue. 4 months is a long wait to continue the series, but totally worth it.
this book desperately needs an Editor to chop out all of the crap. also some kind of climax at the end that actually tied up a part of the story would be nice. there was a big fight at the end but it didn't actually like resolve anything so what was the f****** point?and yet I genuinely enjoyed it even with its flaws
This book is the second in a series from the genius that is Shirtaloon. (Similar to pantaloons, but less coverage. ) The book did not disappoint. As an avid gamer, (WoW, Fall Out, ME, Assassin's creed, Dragonage, DnD) I appreciate the time and knowledge required to create such an endepth story. I would Love to play this story in a game format.
This was a fun second installment with a great second act. The first and third act were a bit slow - with too much time spent on describing the details of the powerups and not enough on developing the story or the characters themselves. This was the main weakness of this second book compared to the first, with Sofia being the only character with a noticable arc. But, most of the fun elements of the first book were here in the second as well. The amazing world building, the dark humor, the fight strategy and the great narration. Also, the author wasted almost zero time recapping the first story, which was welcome. Overall, certainly enjoyable if you liked the first book.
Continuing on from the superb writing style of the first, this book is everything you wanted from a second entry and more. Some authors fail to deliver on book 2 - but I can say with absolute confidence that is not the case here. In fact it looks like we are in for a many-entry buffet of literary delights with this author - and I for one can't wait.
I finished part one and just restarted after the first run cuz it was so good. Did the same for two.
wow, love the first book. second one was just as good. I have already pre-ordered the third book.
