Constance Hill was diagnosed with cervical cancer, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), in May 2014. She underwent a radical hysterectomy, radiation and chemotherapy, and brachytherapy. Then she had a recurrence and was placed on a Phase II clinical trial using the HPV vaccine and immunotherapy. Her cervical cancer is still present, so she is beginning a targeted therapy Phase I clinical trial. After being diagnosed with stage IB cervical cancer in October 2012, Allison Pozzi consulted four different specialists near her San Francisco Bay home. Every one of them said she needed a hysterectomy, which would have prevented the then 35-year-old newlywed from ever becoming pregnant. Her fifth option led her to Pedro Ramirez, M.D., at MD Anderson. Dr. Ramirez offered her options; ones that kept the possibility and hope of having a baby alive, and she knew she had to come to MD Anderson. Allison had surgery at MD Anderson in 2012 and has been cancer-free since. On January 3, 2017, she gave birth to her first child, a son named Carlo.
