Gustavo Hernández is a talented drums player from the Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration) master's degree program. LaVaaz is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Dani Turner (New York, USA) and electronic producer Jain Harshit (New Delhi, India) The pair met while living in Valencia, Spain and began writing together over the course of a year. -- read more below. By merging Jain's lush synths with Turner's soulful tone, the duo crafts compelling and evocative "emotional headbangers" through electro pop infused story telling. This music video features student Lili del Sol and her band playing "La Bruja", a traditional son jarocho from Veracruz, Mexico, with arrangements typical of Joropo, a traditional music genre from Colombia and Venezuela. The combination of instruments such as the harp, vihuela, capachos, cajón and electric bass results in a contemporary sound with which the band revisits traditional genres from their lands.
