Charles T. Rubin is the Marie-Clement Rodier Endowed Chair Professor at Duquesne University. He earned his B.A. in philosophy and political science at Case-Western Reserve and a Ph.D. in political science at Boston College. A recipient of the Madison Visiting Fellowship in the James Madison Program for American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University, Dr. Rubin is a contributing editor at The New Atlantis. His current research and publications focus on emerging technologies, such as nanotechnology and artificial intelligence, and the idea that they will allow the redesign of humanity. Robert H. Latiff is a research professor at George Mason University and an adjunct faculty member at the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values at the University of Notre Dame. He earned a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Notre Dame and is a graduate of the National Security Fellows Program at Harvard University. A former major general in the U.S. Air Force, General Latiff’s last active duty assignment was at the National Reconnaissance Office, where he was director of advanced systems and technology and deputy director for systems engineering. He also served in the U.S. Army, both in the infantry and as commander of an Army tactical nuclear weapons unit.
