Aja Perera vs KC Warfield

This match is under “Lucky 7” rules, every time a submission is applied the off camera ref will commence a 7 count. If the hold garners a submission within the 7 count the grappler applying the hold scores a point, however if the hold is endured the point goes to the recipient who didn’t submit. Neither Aja nor KC seem to give much thought to strategy and that might be a mistake given the points system can work against an aggressor who can’t force a submission or turn into a route should a weakness be continually exploited. A tight Full Nelson is the first salvo fired and while it doesn’t elicit a submission it is painful, but the 2nd one by the same aggressor is a tight Side Headlock, and she might as well have gift wrapped a point. An anklelock with a lot of torque to the knee still won’t score a point for the applier but at least she did some damage despite being down by 3. Then it starts to get interesting as that same knee is wrapped around the ropes but instead of counting a break “the ref” counts as if it were a submission! While the very illegal hold is endured for a 4 point lead it’s the kind of win in a battle that might cost the war! Sure enough that same knee is targeted again and she doesn’t get past 4 before tapping out. A recovery grace is somewhat surprising from “the ref” after the blatant bias during the rope torment but after a protest it’s back to leg abuse. A half crab with a blatant hairpull cuts the lead in half and when the victim protests the cheating it’s revealed “the Ref” is just a counter, nothing more! With the floodgates to cheating opened a blatant hairpull Surfboard gets back a 3rd point cutting the lead to 1. The dastardly tactics continue as the aggressor remains dominant, can her opponent bear down and endure it long enough to score some points and at least make all the pain worth it?
