Physicians and scientists at Yale School of Medicine and University College London are working together to create a new kind of cardiac stent, one which they hope will lower the risk of a second heart attack following angioplasty. The goal is to produce a magnetized, biodegradable metal structure that will attract iron-tagged stem cells and, over time, dissolve away once a new arterial lining is in place.
