You hold one half in each hand and begin by inserting the corner of a card from one hand into the corner of a card from the other. This process is repeated, alternating cards from each half, until the two piles are merged back into a single deck. The act of interleaving the cards disrupts any existing order and introduces randomness, especially when the process is repeated multiple times. Mash shuffling is particularly effective with sleeved cards and is a common method used in card games where a thorough shuffle is important.
