Publisher's Summary Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel in the number-one New York Times best-selling series. Mercy Thompson's life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman - the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack - has made her a stepmother to his daughter, Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy's life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more.... After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can't reach Adam - or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They've all been abducted. Through their mating bond, all Mercy knows is that Adam is angry and in pain. With the werewolves fighting a political battle to gain acceptance from the public, Mercy fears Adam's disappearance may be related - and that he and the pack are in serious danger. Outclassed and on her own, Mercy may be forced to seek assistance from any ally she can get, no matter how unlikely. ©2013 Patricia Briggs (P)2013 Penguin Audiobooks

What made the experience of listening to Frost Burned the most enjoyable? At last something that has more Adam in it, even tho there was alot of Mercy. But Wow the last book was not exciting. I dont want to give away anything, but worth spending the money on.
Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare? I just listened to Evanovich's Not. 19 - and it really reduced my enjoyment of this story. The voices were not unique to this title - and hearing Adam's voice the same as Ranger's reduced my enjoyment.Additionally it was difficult to tell the vampires apart and the accent chosen was too Dracula.
What did you love best about Frost Burned? The story was wonderful and I love Mercy, Adam, Asil, Ben (actually all the pack we got to see) and Stephen. Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare? The one thing I really wish would have been better was the accent Ms King used for Asil.It sounded more Dracula like than Spanish to me (her accent for Stephen and Marsila also sounds more Dracula than Italian, but since they are vampires, it made sense to me).Other than that complaint, I think the narration was very well done.
Any additional comments?Patricia Briggs is one of the best authors of paranormal fiction and this book is an example why. It continues the story of Mercy Thompson, a Native American who is a coyote shapeshifter and married to the local werewolf pack's alpha. Action starts at chapter one and continues at a fast pace through the entire book. Briggs has a unique universe with the Faye and Werewolves outed among humans but Vampires and the other things that go bump in the night still in hiding.Frost Burned is a very good read and I recommend it highly. It is book 7 of the series but can be read on it's own merit. Still, if you haven't started the series go grab Moon Called on your favorite medium. You won't regret it. Lorelei King is great as Mercy.
If you could sum up Frost Burned in three words, what would they be?Coyote changes rules!Who was your favorite character and why?In this book Mercy was my favorite character but Adam was a close second. Bran was the ultimate hero though.Mercy started from a "ground zero" amount of information to mount a campaign of rescue for her mate and her pack. She showed her usual ingenuity and "take now, apologize later" moxy to get the job done.Which scene was your favorite?Mercy's rescue of Warren's partner with the Moor.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?Just an inordinate amount of excitement and frustration as everyone played their parts to rescue the pack and it's alpha.Patricia Briggs showed impact without too much "mush" and lots of courage. Even Ben is shown in a better light.Any additional comments?Put on your shape shifter hat and read this book...it's really very good and excellently read if you listen to it rather than read it.
After waiting for so long for this book I was a little disappointed It kept my interest but it wasn't gripping like I couldn't put it down or anything. But it was still alright..
I found this book to be ok! It was interesting, but I don't feel the same fire I used to feel with the first five books that I listened to. Perhaps it is becauase Adam and Mercy are already together now and before I loved the little dance around their feelings that they used to do. Don't get me wrong it was a lot better than the last book which I did not really like much at all, and after waiting over a year for this book, it was worth the wait, but didn't have me jumping at the end. Still, I cannot wait until the next book.
This series is one of my top 10 favorites, it never disappoints. I'm glad we're back home and dealing with pack business, Adam and even the vampires. Great listen.
If you could sum up Frost Burned in three words, what would they be?Decent story - awkward reading. Well that's 4 words. Up until now, I had read all the books. This is the first one I had listened to. I think the story is decent and it kept me listening despite the narrator. How could the performance have been better? The reader has an awkward cadence to her voice and provides inflection and emotion where it doesn't match with the story. It is almost like she is reading a different story in her head while saying the words written in the book. It is disconcerting. Her character voices are not bad except for younger characters which are all read as one character of kid. They don't have individual personalities and are read in a very shrill high voice. Any additional comments?I'll probably go back to reading them.
In this book, we get to see all the characters we've been missing for a while. While Zee and Stefan, make a small appearance, we see more of Kyle and Tad. We also learn a lot more about Tad and what it means for him to be half fae. We also learn more about Mercy's coyote side. Adam is still a little overbearing for my liking, and Mercy's too, I think. I would like him to start to see, that while he really wants to protect her, she isn't a person to stand around and wait for someone else to save her friends. He wouldn't love her if she just sat on the sidelines or screamed and ran the other way every time there is trouble. This book isn't without loss. We do lose a very important person to Mercy and her friends. Even if this person was a minor character to the book, this person was very important to the other characters. This character will be missed.
