Certainly misogynistic, most of the women are hot plot devices drooling over the two average looking protagonists. However the leads have great chemistry and the jokes are better than expected. A fun plot with enough laughs to get you to the end.
The guy who plays Dr. Rick delivers his lines so well. The whole movie is funny and just easy to watch.
Admittingly, this was far better than expected. I was dreading having to see this, but a lot of the jokes did hit and those hits were direct. However, this film happens to be totally bipolar; for every joke that hit brilliantly, they would be followed by a joke that FAILED SPECTACULARLY! I was amazed that the people who wrote jokes that were quite funny could follow it with an epic fail of a joke. I found myself alternating between a giant grin and a grimace of pure terror through out the film. The actors, especially Eric Christian Olsen and John Michael Higgins, did their jobs well, with the exception of Adhir Kalyan as the gay roommate; he was so ungodly over the top that I was grinding my teeth as if they were coated in glass whenever he appeared. Overall, a surprisingly decent comedy that could have been split in half to make a good comedy.
How this film isn't a classic is beyond me. Dr Rick, Coach Keith & Brewster are hilarious!!! You really need to be born without a sense of humour to not laugh.
The movie was hilarious in all the right ways! I loved this movies and would watch it again and again. The actors were amazing and in whole this movie was great! It has an original take on something so simple but makes everyone laugh whilst doing it! No awkward silences when a joke isn't funny and you can just enjoy it all the way through! I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes teen/collage movies and comedies, pure classic! If you like Bring it on! or any of those movies then you should definitely watch fired up. A film any teen can enjoy. Laugh out loud comedy, i love it!
The jokes were clever and witty and the 2 leads were fun to watch but, sadly this movie and all of its wit, fell victim to what A LOT of other funny movies fell victim to at that time, the love interest. I don't know why movies have to drop all the potential jokes whenever one of the leads falls in love. Because the second a funny/witty character falls in love, the jokes stop being entertaining and just become lame. The movie was silly and poked fun at stereotypes and once again the movie shined in the beginning and middle but, when I get to the ending, everything fun just took a nose dive to the ground. I left feeling disappointed.
When I first saw this appear on Netflix I thought it would be nothing special but it exceeded my expectations by a lot and I loved this movie it was funny had a good story a bit predictable but still good me and my family all enjoyed it and I would probably put it in my top 20 favourite movies
Yes, a lot of us will watch this just for a glimpse of Eric Christian Olsen. He's funny. He's charming. He's memorable. I felt like I was watching a younger Deeks (NCIS:LA) because he had so many comedic moments. This isn't a movie I would buy for my library. The language isn't my thing and neither is cheerleading camp.
