Referee Frankie Gastineau is on hand to call this one right down the middle and they seem determined to keep him quite busy. Not for the breaking of illegal holds you might expect, but checking for submissions and near falls that are the consequence of a very long chain with both primarily focusing on each other’s arm. The matchup is as competitive as it is even and surprisingly still clean. As often happens with a stalemate aggressiveness is increased in an effort to break the deadlock and the turnbuckles and corners start to come into play including some very deep shoulder blocks. A bodyscissors/Chinlock combo sees the first significant momentum swing and finally spurs a little rule breaking to even things out but only enough to give Frankie a change of pace. Hard hitting strikes up the temperature of the match as both competitors try to find anything they can exploit. With such an even matchup the first big mistake is likely to be costly but will it end up costing Chico or Chelsea the whole match?
