Minecraft just blew away expectations at the box office, and if anyone in Hollywood is doing their job, the phones over at Roblox ought to be ringing off the hook. A Minecraft Movie is wildly outperforming expectations and outpacing that of other recent video-game movie adaptation, The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Will A Roblox Movie hit theaters before A Minecraft Movie 2? I don’t literally expect a Roblox movie to be greenlit today or tomorrow, of course. These things take time. But the clock is ticking. The success of the Barbie movie, The Last of Us, and now A Minecraft Movie and has led to the production of adaptations for Masters of the Universe, as well as films based on Polly Pocket, Barney, Hot Wheels, Bob the Builder, Monster High, Magic 8 Ball, UNO, Thomas & Friends and many others. Jack Black has even called for Red Dead Redemption movie. I guess time will tell...
