A common beginner mistake in boxing is constantly pawing or circling the jab hand without a purpose. While keeping the lead hand active can be useful, unnecessary movement can leave a fighter exposed to counters — especially when leaning back. At the beginner level, the lead hand should either be punching or protecting. Every movement should have a purpose.
