what a story ! what a plot ! Amazing acting ! When I saw the first part I became so sad thsg this must have a second part in which the Susan must be given equal right and the Maud along with gentleman must be punished and suddenly i found the second episode which is totally scripted well I can see different things in this move True friendship Love and effection love of a helpless mother Law and rules The Society . 10/10 Highly recomended !! Would love to read the book as well If anyone finds more of the same movies , please recommend some of here or on my whatsapp +923489365461 I would love to have more like this.

The story was well plotted and interesting by itself. However, it is difficult for me to write the review of this film without spoiling you. To avoid that, I am not going to talking the story here. I regard this film as a good adaption of Sarah Water's book, as compared with the previous one "Tipping the velvet". I read the book first and then watched the DVD later. The film did retain most of spirits of the main characters in the book. Of course, due to the time limitation, the film in the last 30 min seemed to be in a rush to cover the part III of the book. Therefore, it couldn't illustrate well the scene when they all met in the the kitchen of Mr. Ibbs's place and those after that (even the book seemed to me to be a rush on that kitchen scene). Despite that, the film actually did a good job in representing the story. It really worth watching. It's still unclear when BBC-America can broadcast this film. That's pity. PS: noticed that the ages of Maud and Sue were set to be 20-21 instead of 17-18 in the book; the latter is more reasonable while the former is more close to the ages of actresses.

This movie is definitely one of the finest of its kind,. A Victrion age story of love, and, grit. The depth of its story line is one that will stir the inner most emotions of love, and hate, with some very interesting twists, this is a must have movie for not only the lesbian audiences, but, for all viewers. I can't say much more or I will spoil the experience for a new, young audience who might just be coming out. Another fine work for Sarah Waters. It also is a great way for Sally Hawkins to win over audiences who only get a brief glimpse of her talent in another Sarah Waters work, in "Tipping the Velvet".. It is also a must see..

I've just watched Fingersmith, and I'm stunned to see the 8/10 average rating for the show. Not only was the plot was difficult to follow, but it seems character development was randomly applied. The actors were adequate, but in the process of attempting to create twists and turns, their characters are rendered entirely one dimensional. Once this happens, the story really falls flat and becomes tedious. And just in case anyone didn't see the predictable lesbian undertones from miles way, this is hammered home in the most banal terms at the end of the film. The end scene is disappointing and phoned in, and anyone who sat back and went "Ohhh, so they were carpet munchers all along!", must have been out for the evening. Two stars for the tonsil hockey in the earlier scene which was at least a bit raunchy, none for the rest of it...

The work placed in to the mini series is amazing and had defiantly left me with a good feeling. The series is a tear jerker but worth every moment! I will have to admit that I, myself had not had high hopes yet defiantly the best lesbian love story I have watched so far!!! I will say I regret not having watch the series sooner. I watched the entire series throughout one sitting and I'm just wanting more! The series itself starts off slightly slow yet within 15 minutes you can hardly blink with out thinking you have missed out on something and other than that the storyline is so original and raw as well as addictive. The characters and ending is as smart and awesome as it can ever get and you would never be prepared for the twist. So without no further ado go enjoy yourself you will not regret it!

This may be the first time I've ever liked a remake better than the original... I'm guessing the writer had some ideas on how to improve the story for The Handmaiden and threw those into that script. I do love The Fingersmith story, and this miniseries was good, but I'm glad I saw The Handmaiden first because that's the better of the two screen adaptations imo, and this way it wasn't spoiled for me.
