In 16 episodes, Craig Benzine will teach you about film history! This course is based on an introductory college level curriculum, with A History of Narrative Film by David A. Cook as its reference text. By the end of the course, you will be able to: * Understand that cinema is an illusion and how our brains make meaning out of still images placed side-by-side in rapid succession * Discuss the birth of the moving picture and the innovations that made sound and color possible * Explain how the studio system rose to power and then collapsed * Contextualize the many uses of film around the globe, including as propaganda
