Nikki says she’s always ready but the uber talented Athena is no one to take lightly and a few switches later Nikki is learning that in a very painful deathlock variant. But maybe that is going both ways as a single leg lock leaves Athena limping and maybe less confident. Armbars and armwringers are traded with a mix of flashy and simple counters until a Fujiwara arm bar requires a more drastic less technical response. Another clever escape leaves one grappler demoralized as she comes to grips with the fact she just is out of her league. Yet instead of capitalizing her opponent offers a test of strength which seems to restore some confidence at least until another innovative escape and counter. Holds like a Lotus Lock seem to build confidence but there always seems to be a clever counter in the offing but the lack of a killer instinct is apparent and one wrestler is starting to believe. The pace picks up with an x factor and several near falls but one wrestler Is clearly the aggressor while the other tries to anticipate and react and one mistake could spell a huge upset!
