This is when The Rock finally beat Steve Austin at WrestleMania. In February 2003, The Rock was in a battle royal for a chance at the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania. Booker T last eliminated him to win the match and The Rock couldn’t believe it. A week later, Austin made his TV return, saying he’s ready to beat everyone in the locker room. The Rock interrupted, saying he did everything, except beat Austin at WrestleMania, officially challenging him. Eric Bischoff interrupted, saying he wants to keep The Rock happy on Raw, putting him in a match against Booker. If he beats him, he can either challenge for the World Title or face Austin at WrestleMania. Bischoff said the show was running a little long and Three Minute Warning appeared. Austin hit Rosey with the stunner, he hit Jamal with another and Rico followed. Then The Rock stood face to face with him. The Rock went for a cheap shot, Austin countered him, went for the stunner and The Rock escaped. A week later, The Rock told Bischoff he won’t be facing Booker, saying the World Title is important to him but not now. His only goal is to beat Austin at WrestleMania and wants Bischoff to make it official. Bischoff said people still paid to see him have a match. The Rock agreed but he’s going to choose his opponent. Bischoff apologized to Austin and The Rock interrupted. He said he did everything in this business, except one thing. Austin said he beat him not once but twice already, asking him if he wants to beat him for a third time. Austin called The Rock inside the ring for a fight, who said he will only fight him at WrestleMania. Austin still wanted a fight that night, went after Bischoff, The Rock went inside the ring and immediately left. The Rock chose The Hurricane as his opponent in a no DQ match.
