The book is filled with a couple dozen short stories some about Mike’s life and some about very interesting people in history and it’s perfect for short rides to and from work. Highly recommended

Mike Rowe tells stories like no other. He has a way with words that just capture my interest no matter the subject. 35 chapters just wasn't enough. I need more.

After the absolute shit show of 2020, I thought it was fitting to take a mental health break from current events. This was just what the doctor ordered. Light hearted, entertaining, and chalked full of random trivia presented in short story form. I encourage you to treat yourself to this. Maybe even take a road trip just to have the uninterrupted time to listen to it all in a day!

It was enjoyable to learn facts about people I was familiar with and be introduced to new names. It's always fun to see if you can guess who the subject is before Mike lets you know their name. The short chapter format is perfect for walks, workouts and short drives.I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Paul Harvey rest of the story is special to us all. Rowe takes it a step further. truly enjoyed it and read by author was bonus. which is why a harveybook when you read it you heard his cadence and delivery.

Just the kind of book that I will come back and listen to more than once, even if only for the enjoyment of listening to Mike Rowe’s endless stories told through his own soothing voice.

I frequently get bored with many books before the end but not this highly entertaining read. It helps if you have seen Mike's shows and like him and the sound of his vice.The structure of this book, 30 some independent chapters/stories, where the listener tries to determine the chapter's subject before the chapter end reveal, kept me engaged.

I think this is the book that I will suggest to every man who asks me, “Got any reading suggestions?” It was like sitting with Mike Rowe and hearing him tell fantastic stories near a cozy fire.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this to be a book of short stories of all kinds of people. Personal stories from Mike Rowe, background stories of celebrities and a few of the most iconic figures you never knew. I was initially put off that every story is told in a way to hide the subject to allow for a “big reveal”. He often makes it seem as if he’s talking about something else only to completely change course at the end. Eventually, I learned to listen intently each time to try to guess what he could mean and how he could be trying to hide the ending. It made the stories more engaging although there were times I wished he had just gotten to the point. However, it was definitely worth it. Mike Rowe has a voice that’s easy to listen to and the short stories make it easy to pause in between listens. The stories are interesting and I found myself sharing them with family and friends later because they stuck. I highly recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I grew up fascinated by the occasional Rest of the Story by Paul Harvey and this collection by Mike Rowe takes those types of stories up another level. It is a thought provoking and inspirational listen.It is so much more than just repeats or some dirty job stories. Just really put together well.

As a kid, I remember listening to Paul Harvey and true to his word, Mike Rowe delivered a wonderful compilation of little known facts laced with personal tales that was very reminiscent of “The rest of the story.” Highly entertaining, and always love Rowe’s baritone delivery.
