First I show you a mental math "trick" of how to quickly find what to add to any two-digit number so that the sum is 100. For example, 73 + ___ = 100. Take the ones digit, 3, and think 3 + what makes 10? That is seven. Then take the tens digit, 7, and think: 7 + what makes 9? That is two. So, the answer is 27. We then use that to figure out the change with mental math in three different shopping situations.
